Checking the specifications of the system

You spend on software, IT devices, network devices and make sure that, these are updated to the latest technical components. But later you realize that the performance of devices is lagging, the computer is hanging, bugs in the software application and then you are confused on how and why is this stuff happening and how do you solve these problems? For such circumstances developers of the product has a testing solution known as Performance Testing service.

Performance Testing Services is the process of which determines the speed or effectiveness of a computer, network, software program or device. This process can involve quantitative tests such as measuring the response time or the number of MIPS (millions of instructions per second) at which a system functions. Qualitative attributes such as reliability, scalability and interoperability are also evaluated. Performance testing is often done in conjunction with stress testing.

Performance testing verifies that the system meets the specifications claimed by its manufacturer or vendor. The process involves comparing of  two or more devices or programs in terms of parameters such as speed, data transfer rate, bandwidth, throughput, efficiency or reliability.

There are different types of Performance test carried out:

1. Performance test - This test is done to determine the speed, scalability and stability of network, computers or any software.

2. Load Test - It verifies application behavior under normal conditions.

3. Stress Test - It helps validating an application's behavior when it is pushed beyond normal conditions.

4. Capacity Test - It determines on many users or transactions can be carried or will support to meet the best performance.

5. Endurance Test - It is done to make sure the software can handle the expected load over a long period.

6. Spike test - It test the software's reaction to large spikes in the load generated by the users.

7. Volume Test - The objective is to check software application's performance under varying database volumes.

Performance Testing
is necessary before marketing any software or and IT devices in the market. This helps in ensuring customer satisfaction and protects investment product failure.
